NYC's Craigslist has been quite busy with shameful listings lately. Here are a few of my favorites.
This poster assumes that creating a "sample application" is the quickest route to finding the best developer out there. Of course, this makes the assumption that the said developer has enough free time (and apparently not enough paying clients) to design a "sample application" without pay. Apparently the poster has already tried this, but without any project specifications. Brilliant! You can test the developer for coding chops and mind-reading all at the same time!

To hire new php coders I want to assign a sample application and then see who finishes it the fastest and does the best job. I have written some requirements but I would like somebody to spec it out in detail so that all of the applicants are actually required to do the same tasks. The problem with no spec sheet is that some people do too much and others do too little since they're not sure exactly what is required and then I cannot compare their completion times or their work product. So if you feel like writing a spec sheet for this purpose, preferably today/tonight, please let me know what you would charge. I'd like to pay about $50. And please elt me know what your experience is and if you have ever written specs, I'd love to see a sample.

A growing internet company is looking for a young programmer, preferably in college or recent grad. Young because the founders are all under 24 and are looking for someone who can grow with the company. Requirements include HTML, CSS, PHP, SQL, & API. Compensation will be discussed if chosen and will be in the form of a cash payment at the end of the gig.
Gig may lead to a permanent position with salary.

SITE REQUIREMENTS
i have all the design done and its only for database and slice my PSD design and make the functions work.

* we need a custom video player (we have the design for it )
* buyers and sellers meet on this side to contact sales of products,
* the video part is just for them to have fun
* they can leave comments on a sales or purchase
* they can flag inappropriate products or videos
* they have a message box where they can see if any user have questions
* they have a feeback profiles (we people have left comments)
* want to support every format of video that youtube support
* people should be able to flag, comment, play , pause, volume, copy link or embedded code of of our player

Wow, I think when I was just starting out I worked for the guy who did the last ad. He never paid me a cent and got angry at me for not wanting to continue to work until his brother ok'd a check for me.
